Three Stories

Three Stories
“You Got This” Cinematic Universe

Teaching his nervous daughter to back out of the drive, a dad affirms: you got this. Two PowerPoint bros bump fists before the all-important client pitch: you got this. A mugger hesitates upon seeing the elderly mark, his mugger chum draping an arm around him: you got this. A lazy doctor passes her patient a leaflet about soft tissue sarcoma: you got this. An activewear couple are agog when their dog Mr. Partisan fetches the frisbee one five-am morning: you got this! A parent rolls their eyes when their kid returns from their weekend-parent with yet another plush toy: you got this. A couple replays through the years that moment eight months into their relationship when, on the dance floor of a cheesy club, everything felt right and beautiful, and how lucky they felt to be, only half ironically, touching their heart and shouting at each other over the din of Hey Ya!: you got this.

Saturday Dad at 50%

Your hair smells like fire, he said at volume to his kid in McDonalds, but she was busy eating chicken nuggets and trying to work out if it’s okay to loathe your father.

Jokes Just Aren’t For Me

Now I have to answer the door? Pry a surname from a reluctant visitor? Hot air rises but joke air is heavy, an airbag on the face, while all around more interesting, now muffled voices. A joke is for the teller; your laugh is theirs, even if won by mere social instinct, hostages seeking an escape from a pressure that seems to somehow fully settle on them. It’s just unfair. Now, how do you like my little story???????
